OLR News Term 3 Week 6
Principal's Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 6. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
I can’t believe we are now over the halfway mark!
Mufti days
Mufti Days are fun for the children, but we do understand that sometimes it can be challenging for parents, especially when there is a theme connected to the day. Please know, that while we may allocate a theme, we really don’t mind what the children wear. We never want parents to be put in a position where they have to buy something specific for their child to wear. The only criteria we have is that children wear closed shoes and appropriate clothing for a school day. The most important purpose of the day is for the children to have some fun.
Fr Brian Ordination and Leave
Fr Brian celebrated the 40th Anniversary of his ordination this weekend. He is now on leave until November. We hope he has a wonderful break. Fr Leonse and Fr Joshi will be in our Parish in his absence.
Building Update
I met with the Project Manager for our building works this week and discussed some of the logistics around the building program. It was a really positive meeting and I feel confident that he understands the specific requirements around a school site. The building company that is likely to be contracted has worked in several schools in the past and knows how they operate. I feel very positive about how it will all progress.
Vision / Mission Meeting
We will hold our first team meeting for the development of the Vision and Mission statement next week. You still have an opportunity to contribute to the development of the draft either by sharing your ideas or be a part of the working party.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Kind regards
Yvette Owens

Fear-Less Triple P Program
On Monday 11 September 2023 Central Coast Region Catholic Schools will be hosting the Fear-Less Triple P program at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Parish Centre, The Entrance. Fear-Less Triple P supports parents and grandparent caregivers of children aged from 6 to 12 years, who have moderate to high levels of anxiety that negatively impact on everyday functioning. The program helps them to learn new cognitive behavioural strategies for anxiety management, encouraging them to apply these themselves for all their children. See flyer for more information. Registrations are ESSENTIAL.
Doll Painting
Would you like to meet people, and catch up and have a cuppa and a chat?
Well, you can do this and also help Our Lady of the Rosary School at the same time. You DO NOT need to have any artistic skills as instructions and information along with paint, brushes etc will all be provided. You just need to bring yourself and a friend (many hands make light work) to the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Centre (next to the Church), 239-243 The Entrance Road, The Entrance (Parking available at the back of the church) on Friday Mornings 8 September and 15 September 9:30am – 11:30am. Year 6 Debating
On Monday the 14th of August, the debating team visited Mackillop College in Warnervale for round 3 of the debating competition. The topic was “That sporting heroes make poor role models.” Unfortunately, it was a loss for the OLR team but we were very strong with our arguments and rebuttals. Looking forward to the next round.
Matildas! Aussie Aussie Aussie
The Matildas have had an eventful week, with their hard-fought matches and close victories. Their dedication and teamwork have been inspiring to fans across the country, and it's heartening to see so many people come together to support them. OLR was buzzing with excitement and Aussie pride. It was amazing to see all of our students and staff united in sport!
We are beyond proud of the Matildas achievements in the world cup. Their campaign has highlighted the importance of women's sports and the need to create a more equitable playing field for all athletes. The Matildas have been leading the charge in this fight, and their success is a testament to the power of perseverance, teamwork, and determination.
