OLR News Term 3 Week 8
Principal's Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 8.
What a busy week we had last week. The Book Character Parade was so much fun. The children looked fabulous. Thank you parents, for the time you put into the creation of these amazing costumes!
The Father’s Day breakfast, liturgy, open classrooms, and stall were also highlights of the week. It was great to see so many dads at school. Your children loved having you visit their classrooms and showing you what they are learning.
These were all such wonderful community events which everyone enjoyed but I have to say, the highlight of school for me right now is the number of parent helpers we have. It’s been far too long since we have had parents around the school and in classrooms and we really appreciate the time parents give to help our students.
It’s not too late if you want to help. Let your child’s teacher know you are interested, and they will organise a time for you to meet with me to go over the parent helper information session. I’m very happy to fit in with your availability. All parents are welcome!
I hope you have a wonderful week.

National Child Protection Week
National Child Protection Week (4-10 September 2021)
National Child Protection Week (4-10 September) is an annual event starting on the first Sunday of September. This year’s theme ‘Every child, in every community, needs a fair go’ aims to spread the message that to treat all of Australia’s children fairly, we need to make sure every family and community has what kids need to grow up safe and supported.
Visit www.napcan.org.au to find out more about the campaign, including activities for families.
In particular, check out the Children’s Art Activity which asks children what they think is most important in a child-friendly community https://www.napcan.org.au/art-activity-ncpw-2022/.
Religious Education Update
Father’s Day
Thank you to all who were able to join us for our Father’s Day celebrations. It was lovely to see so many families enjoying this special celebration!
As we celebrate Father’s Day, we give thanks to God for all of the fathers, grandfathers and father figures in the lives of the students at OLR. We pray that they will always appreciate the important role they play in shaping the future of their children and that God will bless them in this journey. We thank God for the gift of fathers and father figures. May we always be grateful for the love, support and guidance that they give.
We wish you all a very happy Father’s Day. Our hope is that it has been a day filled with time spent with loved ones creating special memories together.
Sacrament of Confirmation
We ask you to keep in your prayers, the children and their families who are currently preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is a significant part of their faith journey and we pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them in it.

Bookweek Parade
On Wednesday this week we celebrated Bookweek with our annual parade. The playground was a sea of colour.
The event creates a sense of community as everyone comes together to celebrate their love for literature. The parade is a platform for children to showcase their creativity and imagination, and it is also an opportunity for parents and teachers to encourage and support their children's passions.
Overall, the Book Week Parade is a day filled with fun, excitement, and learning. It fosters a love for reading and inspires children to explore the world of literature, which is a gift that will stay with them for a lifetime.
