OLR News Term 4 Week 2
Principal's Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the Term 4 Week 2 edition of Schoolzine.
Term 4 is always a very busy term. Lots of end of year activities including the Spring Carnival, Christmas Concert, Graduation, Thanksgiving Mass and so on. These are the community events we all look forward to and enjoy. They are an opportunity for us to take a breath in our busy lives and reconnect with each other. I hope you are able to join us for any or all of these events.
In amongst all this we still need to maintain the learning of all our beautiful children. Time to consolidate their learning and demonstrate their growth this year. Student Academic Reports will come out at the end of the term and should be a source of pride in all that your children have accomplished.
We also look to 2024 this term and prepare for a new year. Kinder 2024 children will be joining us on Thursdays for the next four weeks for their transition to school, a very exciting time. Teachers will soon begin sorting classes and preparing for all things 2024! In the next couple of weeks, I will be asking you to let me know if you have any concerns for your child’s class placement for next year so it would be great if you could start thinking about that.
All this is important but right now let’s turn our community attention to the Spring Carnival. We are really looking forward to a fantastic fun filled evening. Please be sure to read all the information about the Carnival including the cupcake competition which I am very excited about.
Have a wonderful week.
Kind regards
Yvette Owens
PCN Spring Carnival
On behalf of the PCN and Our Lady of the Rosary I Present to you the Spring Carnival! We have been working very hard behind the scenes to bring to you a wonderful night. Let’s celebrate our wonderful school, our kids, our teachers and this beautiful community we live in!
The date of the Spring Carnival is the 27th of October and will begin at 5pm and will conclude at 8pm. You will have seen RSVP requests have been sent. Grandparents, siblings, extended family all are invited but please make sure to include them on your child’s RSVP.
Events like this need our Volunteers, I promise to minimise your volunteer time as much as I can so you to can enjoy the night with your family. The more volunteers the better so please if you are available on the night even if it is for 30 minutes, we really would appreciate the help.
OLR will be fundraising through many ways on the night, one of these include a BBQ. Sausage sandwiches will go on sale through QKR, please purchase as many sausages as you think you will need on the night for your child and your whole family. Please note you are more then welcome to bring along your own foods and snacks. Please pre order once they are gone, they are gone!
We are fundraising through pre purchased “hands". Each hand is worth 5 novelties which include the following:
Hair Colour Station, Inflatable obstacle course, Face painting, Zooper Doopers, Carnival Games, Fairy Floss.
Each “hand” will cost $10 and these will be available for pre purchase also on QKR and must be purchased prior to the night. Each hand sold allows one entry into a lucky door prize to be drawn on the night.
We are hosting a cupcake competition where children’s cupcakes will be made, decorated and judged. The remaining cupcakes will go to a cupcake stall and will be available for purchase on the night for $2. Raffle tickets will be available with some incredible prizes to be won, if you have some loose coins at home feel free to bring them along.
There will be plenty of stalls to browse, exciting entertainment from our very own choir and dance troupe, you will see a one night only special performance and most importantly it will be a night filled with good old community spirit.

Arriving Late/Leaving Early - Please only enter this on the kiosk in the school foyer when you arrive/picking up. Do not enter this on Compass. You can certainly send the teacher a courtesy note on Seesaw to let them know, but not on Compass please.

Thank you!
Around the Grounds
On Friday we finished off our celebrations for our school Feast Day which was originally scheduled for last term but needed to be postponed due the heat! Well, this time around we got a fabulous Spring day for our festivities.
The whole school enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch and activities on the oval. Our Year 5 students ran the activities for the infants and they did a wonderful job.
Thanks to Mr Brown for planning a special afternoon for all of us to enjoy.
Religious Education Update
Sacrament of Confirmation
Congratulations to the Year 3 students who made their confirmation of Friday evening! This is an exciting milestone for these students, and it's great to see them taking this important step in their faith. Confirmation is a sacrament that signifies a deepening of one's baptismal commitment and a strengthening of the Holy Spirit within oneself.
During the confirmation ceremony, the students were anointed with holy oil and received the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is a special moment for both the students and their families, as they celebrate the students' dedication to their faith.
As these young individuals continue to grow and develop, it is important to remember the significance of this moment and to continue to nurture their faith. Congratulations once again to the Year 3 students on their confirmation!

You DO NOT need to have any artistic skills as instructions and information along with paint, brushes etc will all be provided. You just need to bring yourself and a friend (many hands make light work) to the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Centre (next to the Church), 239-243 The Entrance Road, The Entrance (Parking available at the back of the church) on Friday Mornings Starting 20 October – Friday 1 December 9:30am – 11:30am.
