OLR News Term 1 Week 1 2024
Principal's Update
Dear Parents and carers,
Welcome back for the 2024 school year. I hope your Christmas and New Year were beautiful celebrations with your family and friends. It was so good to see all the children and to welcome the kindergarten children.
We have had a really lovely and very settled start to the school year. The children have come in very happy and ready to learn after a wonderful break.
Building update & Safety Reminders
It is wonderful to see the amazing progress that has been made with the building and we can’t wait to see the finished product.
While it is exciting to see all that is happening, we are also very conscious of the safety aspects of having a building site in the middle of the school.
As a school, we have put many procedures in place to ensure the safety of our children and they are really great about following these procedures.
We also need to ensure any visitors to our school are safe. Whenever you enter the school, can you please remain vigilant with what is happening around you. Trucks enter our school grounds, usually before or after school or at pre-organised time and there are always adult spotters to ensure safety. However, we still need any adults, particularly when coming in for drop off and pick up for before and after school or vacation care to be super aware of what is happening around them and to keep their children next to them.
Keeping our children well supervised at all times is always important but even more so with the building project. School supervision begins at 8:30am. We ask that you drop your children to school from 8:30 or consider Before School Care if you need to drop them in earlier.
We also ask that you do not park across the neighbours driveways or in the school disabled car park unless you have a disability and in this case please ensure your car has the sticker visible. We realise the building project has added extra traffic and consequently a few extra minutes to your drop off and pick up routine but we would really appreciate if everyone is mindful of where they park.
On Friday we welcomed our 2024 Kindergarten students to school for their first day. What a special morning it was for the children and their families. They had a wonderful day exploring their new school.
I am looking forward to this year and the exciting times ahead. I hope 2024 is a great year for us all.
Please see below key dates for Term 1 to add to the diary!
Kind regards.
Yvette

Canteen News
Welcome back for another great year in the OLR Canteen!!
You would have all received the Canteen Volunteer form online, if you are available, even for one day, we would love to have you in the canteen. All help is greatly appreciated, the kids love it and it's a great way to meet new friends or clatch up with old ones, so please fill out the form asap so I can finalise the roster for this term.
We have some new items on the menu which I hope will tickle some tastebuds. Sushi, nachos and pikelets will be available daily and we are bringing back the hugely popular Fairy Bread Friday for recess orders.
Pancake Day will be on Tuesday 13th Feb, information will be sent out with price and options this week, if anyone is available on the 13th from 9.30-11.30am I would love the help to serve, no pancake flipping skills necessary!!
Here's to great year of good food in the Canteen!!
