Principal's Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you and your children have had a great weekend.
We had our first whole school Mass on Friday, and it was beautiful. I loved seeing our new Kindergarten children join us as well as the parents and other family members who were able to attend. I want to congratulate our School and House Captains and our SRC who were inducted during the Mass and received their badges. I know they will do a wonderful job in these roles.
Thank you to the parents who were able to attend the Parent Information Session. I hope you felt they were worthwhile. I know our teachers appreciated the opportunity to meet you and talk about the learning that will be happening this year. If you were unable to attend, you should have received notes from the evening. Please let your child’s teacher know if you haven’t received it and they will ensure you receive it.
It’s been really lovely meeting Rosan, our new seminarian. He visited some of our classes last week with Fr Brian and will visit the other classes this week. He has offered to work with our teachers to support the students in their Religious Education lessons. We appreciate the time he is devoting to our school and our students.
I’m so sorry for saying this again, but can I please ask you to consider our neighbours and not park across their driveways. Most days I get a call or visit from a neighbour upset about someone in their driveway. We have also had reports of swearing and abuse when asked to move. I understand parking is difficult but some of the neighbours have said they will call the police if it keeps happening, so I felt it as important to let you know. I feel we need to put ourselves in their place and ask ourselves how we would feel it was our driveway and we need to get out urgently.
I hope you have a great week.
Kind regards
Yvette Owens
Opening School Mass 2024
Ash Wednesday
This week at school, we celebrated Ash Wednesday with a beautiful liturgy. The children gathered together to reflect on the significance of this holy day, marking the beginning of Lent. With ashes on their foreheads and in the spirit of Lent, the children also made Lenten promises. These promises are acts of self-discipline, charity, and prayer that they commit to for the next 40 days leading up to Easter. From giving up sweets to helping others in need, each promise is a small but significant way for the children to grow in faith and compassion. Let us support and encourage them on this journey of spiritual reflection and growth.
As we embark on this Lenten season, may we all take the time to pause, reflect, and deepen our relationship with God. Let us be inspired by the innocence and sincerity of the children as we strive to live out our Lenten promises with love and humility. Wishing everyone a blessed Ash Wednesday and a meaningful Lenten season ahead.
Building Update
The building works are really starting to come along. The team are in the final stages of the formwork before they lay the slab towards the end of February.
We are so excited for the progress being made and looking forward to watching our school transform over the coming months.
