OLR News Term 2 Week 2 2024
Principal's Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you all had an enjoyable first week back. Easing into the rhythm of a new school term brings a blend of familiar routines and fresh opportunities for growth and learning.
In our commitment to create a safe and nurturing learning environment, I want to highlight the importance of online safety for our children. The digital world offers a wealth of learning and communication opportunities, but it also presents certain risks. We are actively teaching our students about the importance of protecting their personal information, recognising trustworthy sources, and treating others with respect online. I encourage all parents and carers to engage in open and ongoing conversations with their children about their online activities. Together, we can ensure that our students navigate the digital world wisely and responsibly.
To further assist you in this endeavour, I recommend utilising resources such as the ESafety website, in particular https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/skills-advice/are-they-old-enough and The ESafety Guide on Apps your child may be using https://www.esafety.gov.au/key-topics/esafety-guide. We will be sharing some advice from the esafety training resources over the coming weeks to support all families in ensuring their children to use social media and online gaming safely.
Looking ahead, we have several exciting events and initiatives planned for this term. We are very much looking forward to welcoming all the Mums in our school community on Friday morning for our Mother’s Day celebration.
Your continued support and collaboration are invaluable to us, and we are always here to address any questions or concerns you may have.
Warmest regards,
Yvette Owens
Office News
School Drop Off
A reminder that school starts at 8.55am. If your child arrives after this time, you must come into the office with them to sign them in.
Please do not drop them off and leave them to walk in.
Emergency Contacts & Change of Routine information
Please note that the Emergency Contact we have for your child is for the school to use in an emergency if we can't contact the parents/guardian. Emergency Contacts do not have permission to collect your child during school hours.
If your child is being collected early by someone other than parent/guardian, or has a change of routine after school, please contact the school office to notify us of this. Do not send a message to the teacher via Seesaw re these changes as they may be away or not see it as they are teaching. The Office staff will not allow collection of a child until we have confirmed this with a parent/guardian.
Medication at School - A reminder that Request to Administer Medication forms need to be completed each year. If your child had the completed form in 2023, you are covered for a short time, but please have the doctor complete this asap.
If your child has never had medication at school but now needs to do so, please have the attached form completed, signed and stamped by the doctor and bring the medication to the school office in the original container. This includes prescription medication as well as over the counter meds (pharmacists can complete this form for puffers and over the counter meds. Without this completed form, we are unable to have the medication on site (please do not put medications in your child's bag for them to take).

RE News - The Angelus
Pope Francis has declared this year the Year of Prayer and has asked us all “to pray more fervently to prepare ourselves to live properly, this grace-filled event and to experience the power of hope in God.”
As a way of acknowledging this year of prayer, all schools in the Broken Bay Diocese are uniting in prayer each day at 12pm to pray The Angelus. All schools in the Broken Bay Diocese have begun the practice of The Angelus this week.
The Angelus, which is a longstanding traditional prayer, pays homage to Mary for her part in the great mystery of the Incarnation which is the belief that Jesus became fully God and fully human at the same time. Throughout the 2 minutes that the Angelus is prayed, we meditate on the words of Mary who offered herself in service to God’s will.
