OLR News Term 2 Week 5 2024
Principal's Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 5!
I hope you have had a great weekend.
Caberra Excursion: I had the pleasure of joining our Year 6 students and Teachers on their excursion to Canberra. Our students were so very well behaved and represented our school really well. We were very proud of the way they engaged in all the activities and respectfully listened and asked questions of the presenters.
A huge thank you to the teachers who accompanied them, giving up time with their families to allow our students this incredible opportunity.
PCN Meeting: We have our PCN meeting next Wednesday, 29th May at 6pm. Please join us at the school or via Zoom https://dbbcatholic.zoom.us/j/68423250837
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there.
2025 Kinder Enrolments: We have held all our Interviews and now we are holding my favourite part of the enrolment process, the ‘Getting to Know You Sessions’. I love having the opportunity to meet the children that may be joining our community.
First Eucharist: The First Eucharist Preparation classes are under way and we ask you to keep all these children in your prayers as they continue their faith journey.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Kindest regards
Yvette Owens

Office News
St Peter's Year 7 2025 Applications
A reminder to our Year 6 families that if you are hoping for your child to attend St Peter's Catholic Secondary College next year for high school then you need to submit your enrolment aplications as soon as possible. The enrolment does not roll over, you do need to apply. Offers for Year 7 placement will go out very soon so we encourage you to apply soon.
Early Pick Up Permission
If your child is being collected by someone other than a parent, it is a requirement that a parent calls or emails the office to give permission. Parents will need to provide the name of the person collecting their child. We ask that you do not send this to the class teacher via SeeSaw as they may not see it until after school.
Emergency Contacts & Change of Routine information
Please note that the Emergency Contact we have for your child is for the school to use in an emergency if we can't contact the parents/guardian. Emergency Contacts do not have permission to collect your child during school hours.
If your child is being collected early by someone other than parent/guardian, or has a change of routine after school, please contact the school office to notify us of this. Do not send a message to the teacher via Seesaw re these changes as they may be away or not see it as they are teaching. The Office staff will not allow collection of a child until we have confirmed this with a parent/guardian.
Medication at School - A reminder that Request to Administer Medication forms need to be completed each year. If your child had the completed form in 2023, you are covered for a short time, but please have the doctor complete this asap.
If your child has never had medication at school but now needs to do so, please have the attached form completed, signed and stamped by the doctor and bring the medication to the school office in the original container. This includes prescription medication as well as over the counter meds (pharmacists can complete this form for puffers and over the counter meds. Without this completed form, we are unable to have the medication on site (please do not put medications in your child's bag for them to take).
Sports News
Cross Country Medal Presentation and Broken Bay Cross Country
Earlier this week we presented our Cross Country champions with their medals!
on Tuesday we had several students attend the Broken Bay Cross Country at Gosford racecourse. Congratulations to all students who took part and a special shoutout to Huxley T and Ace E for progressing to the next level!
Paul Kelly Cup
Our Lady of the Rosary The Entrance is beaming with pride after a remarkable performance in the Paul Kelly Cup! This year, we had two boys' teams and one girls' team, all comprised of our talented Year 5/6 students, stepping up to the challenge with enthusiasm and skill.
Congratulations to our boys' Pool A team and our girls' team, both of whom advanced to the finals. The boys' team had an impressive run, remaining undefeated throughout the day. Although they faced a formidable opponent in the final match and narrowly missed out on the win, their dedication and sportsmanship were truly commendable.
A huge cheer goes out to our girls' team, who showcased exceptional teamwork and determination, ultimately emerging victorious in the finals. Their triumph means they will be moving forward to the next stage of the competition, representing our school with pride and excellence. We wish them the best of luck in their upcoming matches!
Thank you to all the students, coaches, and supporters who made this event such a memorable experience. Go OLR!
Polding AFL
This week OLR had three students represent OLR as part of the Polding AFL team at the NSWPSSA Australian Football Championship in Albury!
Congratulations to Marley B, Liam J, Hayden G. on this amazing achievement.
Parent Engagement Update
Parish News - Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Are you looking for a chance to make a real difference in the lives of children while spreading the Gospel message? Then we have some fantastic news for you! Starting in term 3, we're thrilled to announce that we'll be hosting Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 5pm Vigil Mass. But we can't do it alone - we need your help! We're on the hunt for enthusiastic volunteers to lead and assist the children, who range from 4-12 years old, in learning about the Catholic faith. Ideally, we would like at least 8 people to go on a 4-week roster basis (team of 2 each week. We would love more if possible) and don't worry, all materials will be provided and training will be given. Plus, you'll get to work with some of the most amazing kids around! So what are you waiting for? If you're interested in this exciting opportunity, please speak with Fr Brian or email Colleen Smith (Pastoral Associate) at colleen.smith@bbcatholic.org.au. Remember, volunteers will need to comply with the Working With Children Check (WWCC) requirements. Let's make a difference together!

Water Fun Day Wrap Up!
What wonderful weather we were blessed with for the Water Fun Day! It was lovely to see so many families able to come along and join in the fun with their children.
The PCN wishes to thank all the volunteers who generously gave their time to ensure the day was a huge success. Your participation made the day run smoothly, and we couldn’t have done it without you!
PCN Meeting
We invite all parents and carers to join us for our Term 2 PCN Meeting at 6.00pm on Wednesday 29th May, either in person in the Staff Room, or via zoom.
Meetings are quick, painless, and actually enjoyable, I promise!
We are so fortunate to be part of a wonderful community, and getting involved can really help make a difference.
Get in Touch
We understand how awkward it can be to raise issues, so we have several communication methods:
* Email olrpcn@gmail.com – this mailbox is monitored by the PCN executive;
* Email olrpcnsecretary@gmail.com – accessed only by Jenny who is happy to raise issues on your behalf if you'd prefer to stay anonymous;
* Suggestion Box – this is located in the office foyer. It has a pen and notepapers inside it, and you can include your details or remain confidential;
* In person – Amy, Ericka, and Jenny are always happy to listen and chat.
The PCN hopes that all families feel included and heard, and enjoy being part of the OLR community.
We can't raise your issues or concerns if we don't know about them, so please let us know when you have any suggestions.
