Principal's Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 2 of Term 2! We have another busy term ahead of us.
For those of you who may have missed my message, I had to take unplanned leave at the end of last term. I had the wonderful blessing of welcoming two beautiful new grandbabies to both my daughters, a granddaughter and a grandson. Following their birth however, both my daughters and grandbabies experienced serious health concerns and I needed to be with them. I thank God that they are all well now and I have been able to spend quality time enjoying my two blessings.
I’ve always been an advocate for family and the importance of putting them first. Our families are our greatest gift from God and being there for them is our greatest purpose. Even prior to my grandbabies being born, my family had been going through a really difficult time and I am reminded yet again of how important they are to us.
The children at school are an extension of my family. They are important to me and every decision we make at school is with them at the heart of it. I have also been reminded that it takes a village to raise a family and we at OLR are a village. We can and should look out for each other.
2023 Culture Survey
This initiative is part of a broader strategy called Towards 2025 which aims to make our schools amongst the best in Australia and to ensure that all the students in our care can be the best they can be.
We recognise that our schools, and the community that supports them, always need to keep improving. To achieve our vision of consistently providing an authentic, professional Catholic education with care and compassion, we are exploring new ways of working and new ways of supporting our students.
You can complete the survey here.
Please check the rest of Schoolzine for important information and dates for this Term.
Have a great week.
Kind regards
Yvette
Religious Education Update
Welcome to Term 2! This term, we have a number of Liturgical celebrations that we warmly invite you to join us for.
Mother’s Day
We will be celebrating Mother’s Day at OLR on Friday May 12th. Families are invited to join us for breakfast from 7:30am. At 9am, we will gather together in the silver seats area of the playground for a whole school Liturgy. After the Liturgy, you are invited to join your child in their classroom for activities, concluding at 10:15am.
A traditional part of our Mother’s Day celebration is the slide show presentation of photos of our students with the significant females in their lives. With space limitations this year and the need for the Liturgy to be held outdoors, the slideshow this year will form part of the activities in the classroom visits. Each grade will be compiling their own slide show to be shown at this time.
If you would like a photo included in the slide show, please email or Seesaw message the photo directly to your child’s class teacher.
We ask that you please RSVP by Friday 5th May for catering purposes!

PCN News
What a splash The Water Fun Day was !
On behalf of the PCN I would like to extend a massive thank you to all of the volunteers who generously gave their time to help make the day a success, without your hard work it wouldn’t have been possible. What a team !The day wouldn’t have been such a success without the participation of our wonderful children and teachers at OLR! The PCN would like to thank you too for getting involved and having fun!
A big shout out to our wonderful local business who donated towards the day including Tuggerah Bunnings, Kmart at Erina and Bateau Bay, BCF Tuggerah, Silly Solly’s Tuggerah and Woolworths Bateau Bay!
Making a special appearance, and one I’m sure will be remembered by all the kids, was The Entrance Fire Brigade! A big Thank you to the team for coming along and having a chat with all the kids!
Adding to all the excitement we had Kristy and Josh from Super Castles Central Coast, our Water Fun Day wouldn’t have been complete without the water slides.
The day was more than I had hoped for, I am so pleased the rain held out and the children were able to experience the day as it was planned. The PCN looks forward to organising more events in the near future.

ANZAC DAY 2023
This week OLR attended both the Dawn Service and the Main March at The Entrance on Anzac Day.
Thank you to all of the students and families who represented OLR. We are proud of the way in which you respectfully honoured the memories and traditions of Anzac Day.
On Wednesday morning we had a liturgy at school to commemorate Anzac Day. An OLR Grandfather, Mr Paul Wright attended the liturgy and spoke to the children about his Father and Grandfather who both were members of the army and fought for our country. The children were engaged and respectful as they listened to his story. We thank Mr Wright for taking the time and joining us for the liturgy.
Lest We Forget.
